Not 100% sure what to make of Google Trends, but I’m liking this chart.

I like to show <a href="http://www.google.com/trends?q=wordpress%2C+%22movable+type%22&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0" rel="nofollow">this one because it uncannily marks the crossover point as being in mid-2004, when there was the mass exodus to WordPress.

Yep, Tumblr is getting very popular. Though it's a little bit apples and oranges because Tumblr is a social network and WordPress is a publishing platform.
Toni – very interesting. What are the reference points for "A" "B" etc?
How about adding Posterous to your mix?
A,B are news events, you can see them if you click though to Google Trends.
